The Dawning of Hope - Using these readings
The season of Advent begins formally on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, and ends on Christmas Eve. Each of those Sundays tends to focus on a particular theme:

1st Sunday of Advent looking back at events and characters that have shaped our story.

2nd Sunday of Advent recalling the message of the prophets who sought to bring God’s message amidst troubling circumstances.

3rd Sunday of Advent remembering the ministry of John the Baptist, who was the forerunner to Jesus.

4th Sunday in Advent focusing on Mary who carried Jesus into the world, and the events surrounding his coming.

These have been used as a basic framework, with six reflections for each. They can either be used on the 24 days in December leading up to Christmas, or the six days following each Sunday; they will then continue through to Friday 28th December. Alternatively they may simply offer words of hope and reflection to be used as and when. My desire is that wherever you may be in your faith journey, these might help you take some footsteps forward.
